会津大学・会津短大の学生の皆さんへ

ゴールデンウィークは今年も移動制限があり、旅行などの外出はできませんでしたが、その分ゆっくりできたでしょうか。残念ながら会津若松市は、コロナ禍が始まって以来、最も感染が広がっている状態です。感染しないことが一番ですが、感染経路不明も多いため、万が一知らないうちに感染していても、広げない努力をすることが大切です。無暗に怖がることなく冷静に生活しましょう。

★看護師より★
通常、私たちの体は病原体に一度感染するとその病原体への抗体ができ、抗体と病原体が結合し発病を防ぎます。しかしながら、この抗体と病原体の結合が不十分だと病原体に感染したときに体を守るはずの抗体が免疫細胞（マクロファージなど）への病原体の感染を促進し、体内での病原体の複製増強(感染・炎症が重篤化する)という現象をおこすことがあります。この現象を抗体依存性感染増強(ADE：Antibody-Dependent Enhancement)と言います。
ADEは以下の例で発生することがあります。

①    同じ病原体への２度目の感染、または同じグループの別型のウィルスへの２度目の感染
②    感染の後期
③    ワクチン接種

 
AEDはデング熱重症化の研究から解明された現象です。コロナウイルス感染症である「SARS-CoV-1」と「MERS」は動物実験でAED現象のような現象が報告されています。

Dear students of the University of Aizu,

During Golden Week this year again, we couldn’t go traveling around, but I hope you had a relaxing time instead. Unfortunately, we are experiencing the worst COVID-19 situation ever since the pandemic started. It is important not to be infected, but since many people got infected without any particular causes, it is even more important not to spread the virus in case you are infected without knowing it. Please keep a calm attitude without fearing unreasonably.

★ From the Nurse ★
Normally after we are infected with some virus, we develop antibodies against the pathogens, and they together prevent the onset of the disease. However, if the binding of the antibodies and the pathogens is not sufficient, the antibodies, which are supposed to protect the body from the infection, facilitate immune system cells (such as macrophages) to be infected with the pathogens, resulting in enhancing the replication of pathogens in the body and making the infection and inflammation more severe. This phenomenon is called Antibody-Dependent Enhancement, or ADE. ADE can take place in the following cases.

1.    Second infection with the same pathogens or with a different kind of virus of the same group
2.    Latter period of infection
3.    Vaccination

AED was discovered through the research of Dengue Fever. According to the studies with animals, AED can occur with SARS-CoV1 and MERS, both of which belong to the group of the coronavirus infection.
